Portsmouth Island, North Carolina
Nov 5th, 2009 by Lori
Portsmouth Island is an uninhabited barrier island off the coast of North Carolina and is part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore. The island was once a fishing and shipping village, but it was abandoned in 1971. There are buildings from the village that remain, and the island is visited each summer by many tourists via a ferry.
On our visit to Portsmouth Island, we had a questionable dark looking sky but were blessed with no rain. In the second image below I used HDR (High Dynamic Range) with Photomatix Pro.
